Staff training and development opportunities

Induction Training, and Continuation Training

We give our Staff really comprehensive induction training, to equip them to succeed. We also have mandatory annual continuation training, as well as specialist training to enable staff to meet individual pupils’ needs.

Teaching training for Teaching Assistants

We also support teaching training (such as the Level 3 Education and Training qualification) for our Teaching Assistants, for those who want to develop their skills. When you complete this course, the School will reimburse 100% of the cost of the course.

Class Leader Development Programme

This programme is for Teaching Assistants and Unqualified Teachers who want to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence that will enable them to become a successful class leader. The programme will consist of 1 hour sessions, after work, and will explore all aspects of the class leader's role. The programme will start in Spring 2025.

Behaviour Management Development Programme

This programme will start during the academic year 2024/25, to develop staff's understanding of behaviours, and thus their behaviour management skills.  More details will be announced in Spring 2025.

Leadership Development Programme

For motivated volunteers with management and leadership potential, we will also arrange professional development training, to enhance their career prospects and to equip them to succeed as future members of our leadership team. We aim to start this programme in 2025.

Formal Teacher training

For selected staff we will also arrange a formal Teacher Training programme in due course, to provide a route for them to become Qualified Teachers.

"Leaders are so much more supportive at Maypole than any other setting I've worked in before. I'm given opportunities to develop in a professional and personal sense, and I feel listened to."

Teaching Assistant, April 2024

"Maypole has kept every word they said when discussing my development / expectations, prior to me taking on the role. You can tell every staff member is here for the right reasons, and wants the best for each student."
